Thursday, 23 May to Tues 28 May 10am to 5pm
an exhibition of contemporary ceramics and art by Island artists Andrew Dowden and Jeanne Mills-Holland
Isle of Wight artists Andrew Dowden and Jeanne Mills-Holland met through their shared interest in ceramics. 'Visions & Dimensions' is their third exhibition together.
Hand-carving, surface texture and structure are Andrew's prime areas of interest, with form being more important than function. More recently, influences from archaeology, architecture and machinery have been incorporated into designs, adding further dimensions. The exhibition will show standing forms, tile panels and ceramic wall plaques.
Jeanne's oil and watercolour paintings for this exhibition have been influenced primarily by her fascination with water and her love of sailing, incorporating local impressions of the shoreline and boats around Wootton. She has also produced porcelain pottery pieces, to complement her paintings.
