An opportunity to learn all about plant fibres - their sources, harvesting and processing techniques, colour manipulation and traditional uses in native cultures around the world.

Following a good grounding in the material itself you will go on to work with the fibres in both traditional and experimental ways learning the techniques of looping, netting and knotting, twining, freecoiling and many other techniques inspired by the long traditions of textiles and fibre art.

Expect to work with palm fibre sheets, banana leaf sheaths, lime bast, sisal, beaten rushes and esparto grass, New Zealand flax and a variety of willow barks.
