From 1904 - 2000 a Convalescent Home for Officers occupied two wings of Osborne House in East Cowes. It could accommodate up to fifty convalescents and had a substantial medical, domestic and maintenance staff. Its rooms are now closed to the public, but in 2015 Zoë had the opportunity to explore these hidden spaces with her camera.

Zoë has always been drawn to domestic settings, finding beauty in the most ordinary of details. She often shoots in locations that have been abandoned or are on the verge of major change. Her images are full of stillness but also full of life, the everyday details she captures resonating with clues about the people who once occupied these spaces.

Zoë shoots on a Mamiya RZ67 medium format camera using Kodak film.

Exhibition 16th July - 6th August 2020 at Aspire Ryde ARCH window gallery 35 High St PO33 2HT NB. Shop opens Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm.
