After a rest for the last couple of years, FolkStation is back with an exciting folk music event at ASPIRE Ryde, a new community centre which is emerging from the former Trinity Church, located in Dover Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight.
There are three events over the Easter weekend . You can buy tickets separately or for all three (at a discount) using the PayPal buttons on this page (you don't need a PayPal account to use these, you can pay by card when you check-out). See "Buying tickets" below for the details and conditions:
There will be a bar and hot food will be available.
Friday 3rd April, 8 to 11:
An acoustic concert in the community room, with headliners Vikki Swan and Jonny Dyer, plus Guith, Double Hitch and Taffety. Tickets £10 (under 13’s go free).
Saturday afternoon 4th April, 1 to 4:
Instructional workshops in various areas of the ASPIRE centre. Tickets £5 for any workshop (all ages)
Introduction to the Nyckelharpa – Vicki will bring along some of these wonderful instruments for you to try.
Jonny Dyer will be running a workshop for folk guitar.
Barn-dance calling: Island master caller Ian Watterson will help aspiring callers with his vast fund of knowledge and experience.
Participants will have the opportunity to call a dance at the evening event.
New: 'Introduction to Cotswold Morris Dance', a chance to find out about the traditional dance, and to have a go. Instructor Brian Reeves, all welcome.
Saturday evening 4th April, 8 to 11:
Grand ceilidh (i.e. Barn-Dance) with the Concord Ceilidh Band, caller Ian Watterson and performances by Vicki & Jonny and local solist Christopher Quinton. Tickets £10, under 13’s go free
