Decorative papers can be incorporated into many crafts – bookbinding, collage, box making and stationary – the uses are limitless. In this workshop, you will learn two fun and simple methods of creating your own decorative paper, which are easy to repeat at home without the need for expensive equipment. At the end of the day, you will take away a large selection of papers ready for you to use in your own projects.
Suminagashi is a Japanese marbling technique using only ink, water and the movement of air to create beautiful designs. Paste papers involves brushing coloured paste onto paper and drawing various implements through the paste to create patterns, which can often have a three dimensional appearance.
A variety of implements will be provided and you are welcome to bring along their own objects to experiment with. (Kitchen tools can be used to create great effects).
