We are delighted to announce a wonderful concert which we have been looking forward to for some time.

Soprano Sarah specialises in early music and has enjoyed a career singing in some of Europe’s leading ensembles and as a soloist. A regular performer with the Taverner Choir she has also sung with the Hilliard Ensemble, Ex Cathedral, and the Choir of the Enlightenment.

Highlights have included the lead role in the first modern performance of Handel’s Berenice, and appearances at major festivals in England, France, Germany and Italy. She grew up on the Island, and is a part time Bonchurch resident.

Her concert will include an incredible diversity of music, including lute songs from the time of Elizabeth 1st, ravishing seventeenth and eighteenth century English pieces by Purcell and Handel, a detour to nineteenth century France for some Faure, and returning to England for some very lively cabaret songs by Benjamin Britten.

We will also find time to explore the work of two Island composers, one born in Ventnor and the other resident in Bonchurch and Yarmouth.

The evening will conclude with some artful jazz from Cole Porter and others. Sarah will be accompanied on harpsichord and piano by Simon Harrison.
