Another first, another church!

Newchurch Male Voice Choir will again be breaking new ground, performing for the first time at All Saints' Freshwater on Wednesday 18th June to help raise funds needed for the church.

All Saints' has Saxon and Norman stonework and a 13th century tower with a peal of six bells.

The present treble is dedicated to the Poet Laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson and the clock chimes, composed by Sir John Stainer, are called "The Tennyson Chimes".

Robert Hooke the 17th century scientist was baptised here. Members of the Tennyson family are buried in the churchyard and a bronze statuette of Tennyson is exhibited in the Afton Chapel.

All Saints Church in Freshwater is one of the oldest on the Island and is listed in the Domesday survey 1086.

Admission to the concert is free but but there will be a retiring collection. The concert commences at 7.30pm.
