Go Wild in Newchurch is a free family event looking at the Island’s wildlife both during the day and at night.

The event starts on the evening of Monday 26th May at 8.30pm with Star Gazing, Bat Detecting and Moth Hunting.

The main event will be held on Tuesday 27th May around Martin’s Wood, Newchurch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This year the Bioblitz focuses on wildlife in an area once used for agriculture. Martin’s Wood, School Lane, Newchurch was once an arable field that has now become a local nature reserve and has proved to be a wonderful haven for wildlife including 70 different types of bees, squirrels and birds.

The BioBlitz needs the public’s help to find all the brilliant wildlife in and around Martin’s Wood, whether it is in the nearby fields, woods or down by the stream.

There will be experts onsite from 10 am to help identify all the bugs and beasties found, and they will be recording the many different plants and animals found during the day.

No experience is needed and people of all ages are welcome to come along and help the experts look for the plants and animals that make this area so special.
