Wihtwara

Just to let you know that Wihtwara are playing their first gig as a trio at the Black Sheep Club Lounge on Friday 16th May at 8-30pm (doors open at 8-00pm).

Wihtwara, an ancient name given to the inhabitants of the Isle of Wight, is a folk trio comprising Tom Ferguson (bass, bodhran, guitar and vocals), Linda O’Connor (vocals) and Glenn Koppany (guitar and vocals).

We formed about two years ago and, since then, have been playing regularly in local folk clubs.

We play an eclectic collection of folk songs - original songs from Glenn, traditional, folk from around the world and contemporary. We range from lively dance music to haunting ballads, all with our own Wihtwara twist. Upbeat, reflective and interesting, we hope we appeal to everyone who enjoys live music.

The gig is in aid of the Ryde Historic Society and all tickets cost £5.

They can be bought from Liz at "Splash" - the jewellery shop in Union Street, Ryde, or reserved by phone, again through Liz on 616257.

There are a limited amount of tickets available so reservation is strongly advised.
