MAY DAY JOUVAY LAUNCH, TUESDAY 7TH FEBRUARY AT WEST WIGHT YOUTH CENTRE, FRESHWATER

We are already making plans for this Year's May Day Jouvay event,which is on Sunday 6th May in Yarmouth and want to share our thoughts and enlist your support for a range of activities which will feed into the 2012 'better than ever before' event!

In summary - we are proposing a day-time only celebration (no early starts, sorry to disappoint) with a themed parade of costumes and music from Fort Victoria, as usual, to the Green at Yarmouth where the organisers of MayFest have invited us to perform. There will then be a choreographed and rehearsed(!) Show in the main arena, much like we have done before at dawn, but this year more ambitious and professionally directed and performed to a much wider audience! The theme will be related to myths and folklore around May Day.

We are keen to hear from everyone who would like to take part in carnival costume making, performing in the parade or in the Show, or stewarding and all offers of behind the scenes help. We have allowed about an hour for the meeting. There will be refreshments on arrival.
