As part of National Libraries Day 2012 which takes place on Saturday 4th February, Sandown Library is holding an open day.

National Libraries Day's main objective is to encourage people to use their libraries and aims to get new customers joining up.

9.30-10.30 Family History Advice
If you’re researching your family tree and have hit a brick wall, then come in to see Sheila our Heritage Librarian who can help get you going again with her expert advice.

10.00-11.00 Guitar Class
Learn to play guitar at Sandown Library, come and see Graeme and his group in action!

10-12.30 Get started with computers!
Talk to Carol about getting started with computers. She offers classes at Sandown Library on a Wednesday – come & meet her and take the first step to computer literacy!

10.00-12.00pm Sandown & District Historic Association
Come & look at the fascinating photos that the Historic Association display at Sandown Library and learn more about what they do.

10.30-12.30 Sandown Library Health Walkers
Come and talk to the health walkers and find out how you can walk your way to fitness in 2012.

11.00-12.30pm Health Trainer
Dena Stott will be in the library to talk to you about your health concerns and help you find the way to fitness in 2012!

Meet with your local councillor Heather Humby
Talk to her about any issues concerning you. She’s at Sandown Library every Saturday from 11.00am.

1.30-2.00 Storytime Stories
For 4 to 8 year olds. Bring your children to see what fun they can have in the library!

2.00pm Knit & Natter
Sandown Library’s very own Knit & Natter group will be in doing what they do best-knitting & nattering, so pop in and see why they love it so much! They meet in the library every Friday from 3.00pm.

2.00-3.00 African Drumming
Come and hear what our African drummers get up to on a Tuesday evening.

2.00-4.00pm Sandown & District Historic Association

3.00pm Sandown Library Reading Group
