Island music promoters Vaguely Sunny are organizing a concert at Brading Town Hall on Friday, June 24th. This features the fiddle playing sisters from Connemara - Liz and Yvonne Kane.
Liz and Yvonne first came to the Isle of Wight in the summer of 2000 and immediately made a big impression. They were part of Irish accordion player Sharon Shannon's band who received a standing ovation for their concert at Mediina Theatre en route to Glastonbury.
Liz and Yvonne returned to the Island in 2004 for a concert in their own right at the Riverside Centre, Newport. If you have not seen them before, they are lovely people, there is a dazzling empathy in their playing, and they are among the leading fiddle players in Irish traditional music.
Appearing with them at Brading will be concertina player Edel Fox from County Clare.
Edel began playing the concertina at the age of seven, and is regarded as one of the best of Ireland's young traditional musicians. There is a real spark to her playing.
Tickets for the concert are £10.00 each and can be booked by phoning 01983-730930.
Tickets are also available at Brading Post Office.
