Edward fox

One of Britain's best-loved and most respected actors, Edward Fox, is coming to Ventnor to bring to life the witty characters from Anthony Trollope's Barchester Chronicles.

He will also be providing a dramatic insight into Trollope's life, portraying the great novelist through extracts from his best-known works interspersed with accounts from his autobiography in a brilliant one-man show on Saturday 16 April.

In six of his novels, Anthony Trollope invented a county - Barsetshire - and filled it with his imagined characters; from the Warden to Bishop Proudie, from the Bishop’s domineering wife to Mrs. Grantly dealing with all sorts of conditions of men, but especially with the complexities, plots and counter plots of the mid-nineteenth century church.

Humane, witty and above all, well observed, Edward Fox brings to life many of these characters in a show devised and directed by Richard Digby Day.

Edward Fox has enjoyed a long and successful career in theatre, films and television.

Best-known amongst his films are The Go-Between, The Day of the Jackal, A Bridge too Far, Gandhi, The Dresser, and The Shooting Party.

His television performances includes Edward and Mrs Simpson (for which he won the 1978 BAFTA Award for Best Actor), Quartermaine’s Terms, Dance to the Music of Time and Daniel Deronda.
