Residents in Brading are being invited to have their say on the most important policing and community safety issues in the town.

The Isle of Wight mobile police office will be in the car park of the Bugle Inn off Brading High Street this Thursday (January 28) between 3.00pm and 7.00pm.

Residents can speak directly with police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), local councillors and Isle of Wight Council staff.

‘Street Mapping’ surveys of people’s opinions will be carried out by the police throughout Brading on the same day.

Brading Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Ken Payne said: “Overall crime levels in the Sandown Bay area are going down at the moment. There have been 201 fewer crimes between April last year and January this year compared to the same ten months a year earlier.

“The police are determined to continue working closely with partner agencies and the community so we can all keep Brading a safe place. The views of residents are vital to ensure our combined efforts concentrate on the local issues that matter most to people.

“The feedback we receive will decide the top three priorities for policing and community safety during 2010. I would also encourage any Brading residents who won’t be available on Thursday to contact us by phoning 101 or e-mailing [email protected].”
