Jesmark is a Maltese fisherman faced with a choice – to repair his traditional wooden fishing boat and eke out a living at sea or sell it and join a black market operation that is decimating the local fish population and the livelihoods of the fishing families.

Strong, yet understated, performances from a cast who are most real-life fishermen make for an emotionally wrenching moral drama that has been hailed as a future neo-realist classic.
