Mike is the lead singer of one of the most popular bands in 1980s Leningrad, a city in the grip of a musical rebellion fuelled by punk, rock and new wave from the West.

He basks in his celebrity with glamorous girlfriend Natasha until his biggest fan, Viktor, a gifted singer-songwriter, arrives on the music scene.

Natasha recognises Viktor's raw potential and, as she gravitates towards the newcomer, she becomes one point of a volatile love triangle.
