Part of Platinum Jubilee

Saturday 4th June will see a showcase of dance, music and drama out in Ryde High Street as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The Arts Council’s Let’s Create Jubilee grant was awarded to Ryde Business Association through the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Fund.

The grant has allowed a number of Ryde organisations to combine their efforts, seeing the New Carnival Company, Monkton Arts, Ryde Arts, and Riboleau Street Studios involved.

Those heading to Ryde on Saturday 4th June will be able to see:

‘Elizabeth in Wonderland’ – Roaming Theatre. A specially adapted performance where the Queen comes to tea! See if you can spot them around the town.

‘Back to the Future – The next Generation’. Community dance performances taking us through the last 70 years, with a skateboard display too. Scheduled in Co-Op Square.

‘Cheeky Monkey’. One half of the very popular duo comes to Ryde to showcase his circus skills. Co-Op Square 2pm, and finale in the High Street 3.15pm

Flag Making – Join the New Carnival Company at their base in 13b Union Road, to make your Jubilee Flags. 11am -3pm

‘Art in the Garden’ – Arts and Crafts market at St Thomas Rest Garden.

‘Community Mural’. Riboleau Street studio artists will be waiting for you at Minghella Square so you can input into the design of a community mural. Help them identify textures, silhouettes and shapes, which will then be incorporated into the final works later in the month.

FINALE – Head to the High Street at 3pm, bring your flags and Jubilee dress ready to dance in the streets and enjoy Vectis Brass Band.

In addition to the ONTO THE STREET activities in the town, you can also get your ‘Ticket to Ryde’ and enjoy the free entertainment at Eastern Gardens.
