Preview: Sat 2 Jul 2 – 4pm All Welcome.
Meet the Makers Critical Dialogue with Jonathan Parsons: Thu 7 Jul Starts 6pm FREE.

The exhibition showcases new work by over thirty past and present members, demonstrating the skill and originality of their chosen craft.

QuayCrafts was founded in 1986 after discussions by eleven Island artists. Meetings were held at Quay Arts and the group developed an aim where they were to provide mutual support for its members and their artistic development through the promotion of sales, exhibitions and education.

Another Time, Another Place is set to be a landmark celebration of the 25 year existence of QuayCrafts. The exhibition aims to be an exciting, dynamic showcase of new and original work, made individually and some collaboratively over the last year, embracing a wide range of skills.

'QuayCrafts can be seen as an example of good practice in collaborative working even though that road may have had its ups and downs the fact that after 25 years of making, discussion and debate they are still using their tenacity, skills and once again passion to produce new and exciting work to show is a testament to their professionalism.’ Robert Martin - Consultant Curator R-Space, Lisburn, Northern Ireland.

With support from the Arts Council of England and local business, a book celebrating QuayCrafts is being launched a week before the opening of the exhibition.

The exhibition in The West Gallery will be linked to QuayCrafts 25; this exhibition in the Learning Curve Gallery will show information about individual member’s creative careers, some documentation of the group’s history offering an enriching background of the group’s achievements. Information will also be provided about courses, training and careers in the arts.

Jonathan Parsons - arc Lead Artist from Aspex Artists’ Resource Centre, Portsmouth will discuss with a selection of QuayCrafts members about their artistic processes and the publication of the group’s book ‘QuayCrafts 2011’ Thu 7 Jul 6pm. All are welcome to this FREE discussion.

This exhibition is supported by: Arts Council England Lottery, The IOW Garlic Farm and Made on the Isle of Wight.
