Thu 6 Jan – Mon 21 Feb 2011
Anne Lovelock presents this simple and colourful photographic display of flowers from an English Garden.
Harking back to legendary American photographer; Imogen Cunningham’s botanical works, they are evocative and sensual, whilst providing a sense of calm and tranquility.
Anne has been resident of the Island for the last 10 years and currently lives in Yarmouth, she started her photographic career as a mere hobby a few years ago and has since gone from strength to strength. She is an active member of WightBalance Photography +; a Photographic Club based in Newport’s Riverside Centre and she has just completed a year as Chair.
She photographs still-life as well as moving objects but her greatest passion is portraiture. She says; ‘I am obsessed, enthralled, bewitched by the human face.’ Having said that she is inspired by landscapes, seascapes, travelogue and photojournalism and of course, flowers of which this exhibition displays. She states; ‘I’m always looking for a different approach, a different slant that makes an image stand out.’
