Four new dinosaurs

2021 was a really exciting year for dinosaur discovery on the Isle of Wight, with the publication of descriptions of four new taxa known only from the Island.

Ceratosuchops inferodios the Hell Heron, Riparovenator milnerae the riverside hunter, Brighstoneus simmondsi the first new well characterised iguanodontian on the Isle of Wight for a century and a small but ferocious theropod Vectiraptor greeni.

Their unique remains have all been accessioned at Dinosaur Isle Museum adding to its internationally important collection.

This evening of talks gives an opportunity to hear from people closely involved with the discovery of three very different types of dinosaur that gained international publicity.

Speakers include:

Prof David Martill, Professor of Palaeobiology, University of Portsmouth Dr Neil Gostling, Lecturer in Evolution and Palaeobiology, University of Southampton Dr Jeremy Lockwood, Postgraduate Researcher, University or Portsmouth & NHM London

‘Four New Dinosaurs’ takes place via Zoom on Friday 4th March at 7pm.

Each of the three talks will last for around 25 minutes, followed by questions.
