Newport Roman Villa will be open free of charge on Saturday 16 July to celebrate the Festival of Archaeology. Drop in between 10.30am – 2.30pm no booking required.

Explore the well preserved remains of this third century Villa, discovered in 1926 which is said to have one of the best examples of a Roman bath suite in southern Britain.

For families there will be a photo trail, a sand pit excavation and hands on activities.

Bring along any archaeological finds to be identified by the local Finds Liaison Officer – and view some of the incredible archaeological finds found on the Isle of Wight.

The Festival of Archaeology runs from the 16 – 31 July and is organised by the Council for British Archaeology. The Festival of Archaeology incorporates hundreds of in-person and virtual events delivered by community groups, heritage organisations, universities and commercial units across the UK.

The event is organised by the Isle of Wight Heritage Service.
