This April, as part of their continuing programme of events, Medina Bookshop in Cowes present a chance to hear Roger Sanders talk about his book ‘Ted’s Café’. Paul Armfield will host the evening, leading the conversation before opening it up to the audience’s questions.

Newport resident Roger Sanders is a popular man, known to many as the name and face behind the Sanders Sports shop and enterprise, to others as the Southampton FC devotee, and others still as a keen supporter of local music. But to everyone he meets he is the friendly chap who always has time for a natter, a man with strong opinions but who will listen, consider and respect any thoughts to the contrary. One of life’s born conversationalists.

Retired now, he has used the time to sit down and write his debut novel. Heeding the popular adage ‘write what you know’ the book centres around four retired men who have been meeting regularly at their local café for years, putting the world to rights on a daily basis. The café remains the one unchanging constant as they come to terms with the challenges and traumas of their changing personal lives as well as a political world in turmoil.

Paul Armfield of Medina Bookshop says: ‘A conversation with Roger seemed the obvious way to celebrate and promote this most enjoyable book. The novel deals with some heavy issues, there’s plenty for us to get our teeth stuck into, but this being Roger I’m sure there will be plenty of wit and banter to keep things entertaining.’

The talk will take place at Medina Bookshop in Cowes on the 8th April at 7pm, places are available at £3 which will be refundable on a purchase of the book on the evening, and can be booked by calling 01983 300044, the venue is not licensed and therefore attendees are asked to bring their own refreshments.
