Jamal

Jamal Aliyev cello
Jâms Coleman piano

In 2019 Jamal Aliyev made his debut with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the St. Magnus Festival broadcast by Radio 3. In 2017 he made his BBC Proms debut and won the Arts Club – Sir Karl Jenkins Music Award. His debut CD Russian Masters was released by Champs Hill Records to critical acclaim.

He was selected by Young Classical Artists Trust in 2017 and Concerts Artists Guild in New York in 2019.

Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, Jamal studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and at the Royal College of Music with Thomas Carroll, where he completed his Masters.

Jamal plays a Giovanni Battista Gabrielli cello (1756) on generous loan from a private individual through the Beare’s International Violin Society.

From Anglesey, North Wales, Jâms Coleman is a pianist who enjoys a rich and varied musical life performing as a soloist, chamber musician and vocal accompanist. He finds it inspiring and fascinating to collaborate with different musicians and values the rewards of this process.

Jâms enjoys performing solo recitals and as a concerto soloist. He has performed repertoire including Beethoven’s Third, Fourth and Fifth Piano Concertos and concertos by Chopin, Brahms and Mozart.

Jâms read Music at Girton College, Cambridge, where he was also a choral scholar. In 2016 he completed a Masters at the Royal Academy of Music where he then stayed on as a Fellow.
