The 2023 Royal Isle of Wight County Show promises a bumper crop of fun and entertainment over two days, spread across 32 acres of Showground and woodland. Experience a slice of rural life and take the opportunity to learn more about the Island’s farming, food and countryside. The event has a pedigree for showcasing the best of the Island’s growers, producers, makers and artists.

Early bird ticket discounts and free entry for children (accompanied by an adult) make this the Isle of Wight’s best value entertainment of the summer. Here’s a taste of what to expect:

FAMILY FUN

  • Watch the canine capers at the Fun dog show. Bring your pooch and enter categories including best rescue dog, best puppy under 12 months, waggiest tail, dog most like its owner and many more. And you’ll love the Terrier Racing – it’s fast and very funny.

  • Get up close to the pigs, sheep, goats, calves, chickens and ducks in the Show Farm. Watch cows being milked, sheep being sheared and try your hand at herding a pig or leading a sheep!

  • Head to the Village Green for marching bands, face painting, balloon art and performances. Pop into the Village Green bar for a pint.

  • Enjoy vintage attractions, a classic vehicle display and trail bike riders performing some impressive stunts!

  • Go to the Livestock area to watch The Sheep Show and learn all about sheep breeds and their wool. Take part in the 'have-a-go' sheep shearing, and if you've never seen sheep dancing before, then you’re in for a laugh – it’s brilliant fun!

MAIN RING PERFORMANCES

  • Big Bale Challenge –18 teams compete to push a large bale round an obstacle course. Sounds easy? It weighs over 250kg!

  • A display of more than 70 vintage tractors.

  • British Scurry and Carriage Trials.

  • Grand parade of winners from all show competitions.

  • The Island Pony Club games.

ISLE OF WIGHT FOOD & DRINK FESTIVAL

  • Make a visit to the Food Pavilion to sample the best of Isle of Wight’s delicious local produce, from cheese and chutneys to meat, vegetables and alcoholic drinks. Many of the growers, makers and producers are Wight Marque members, which means their products are lovely and local.

GARDEN & OUTDOOR LIVING

  • Get inspired by the Show Garden displays. It’s like a mini Chelsea Flower Show, each entrant has a 4m x 4m space to create their own garden paradise.

ARTS & CRAFTS

  • The Island Arts area is a great opportunity to engage with local artists and find out how they have developed their amazing talents.

  • Browse the stalls at the I Love Wight Makers’ Market for gorgeous homewares, jewellery, ceramics, skincare ranges, candles, prints and cards.

WOODLAND

  • Go on a woodland walk and try your hand at traditional craftsmanship including hurdle making, charcoal making and spoon whittling.

  • See the Adams Axemen in action – the country’s best known lumberjack display team.

LIVESTOCK AREA

  • It’s the livestock Olympics! Watch the sheep and cattle being judged, with cups ranging from Best in Class to Supreme Champions. Fancy being a farmer? Try your hand at leading a calf.

EQUINE AREA

  • Trot along to see the show jumping, and horse showing (including carriage driving).

See you at the Show!
