Everywhere Ryde-based graphic designer Cat James goes on the Isle of Wight she sees a little piece of her work. Or sometimes a great big piece - as big as the back of a bus. You may have read a leaflet designed by Cat or navigated by one of her maps on a sign in the countryside. Cat says:
"For over a decade I have made my living as a creative; working as graphic designer for the Isle of Wight Council and also my own company Pinkeye Graphics. You can find my work across the Island - maybe even in your home."
Art in galleries and commercial graphic art are not mutually exclusive. They both communicate visual ideas, the primary difference being the funding and purpose behind the work, whether arts or private funding, or through a commercial brief.
