NEWCHURCH LANTERN TRAIL – FREE EVENT

Join the lantern trail around St Martins Wood in Newchurch.

Thursday 3 and Friday 4 November, 6pm from All Saints Church Hall in Newchurch

Bring your own lantern or torch.

The Trail will run for two nights. You can choose which one to join (or come to both!) We shall start our walk at 6pm from All Saints Church Hall. We expect it to take approx. 45 minutes to get round the woods, finishing with a Finale performance of All the World’s a Stage on the Recreation Ground (behind the Pointer Inn).

This is a community event and all the lanterns and the light installations have been made by locally, including Newchurch and Arreton schools, Newchurch Art Club, Newchurch Scouts, Cubs and Beavers and our Creative Volunteers group. We have chosen to theme the Trail on Shakespeare to mark his 400 anniversary year, and some of the light installations are inspired by As You Like It, a comedy set in the Forest of Arden with themes of Love, Nature and Pastoral life. As you walk around the Trail you will find Hearts and Poems in the trees and giant models of creatures that live in the woods made by volunteers and young people.

At the end you can buy warming seasonal refreshments specially prepared for this event at two locations.

• On Thursday at Newchurch School, run by FONS. (friends of Newchurch School)

• On Friday at The Pointer Inn, on the terrace and garden at the rear of the pub.
