Dark nights at the Roman Villa is a new free outdoor arts event combining a spectacular illuminated street parade with a community enactment of a fairy tale pageant, devised and performed by local schoolchildren, their friends and families. Expect to see giant puppets, fabulous costumes, choreographed dancers and epic drama.
The script is inspired by the famous Roman mosaics of the Villa, and features Medusa, Bacchus, Orpheus and the inimitable Cockerel-headed man as never before.
A parade, starting at Brading School featuring illuminated costumes and families carrying handmade Roman-style torches will lead into the spectacular performance.
18:00 Illuminated street parade starts from Brading School, via Bull Ring, The Mall and Moreton Old Road to Brading Roman Villa
18:45 Outdoor Pageant begins at Brading Roman Villa
There will be several community workshops in the lead-up to this event, making lanterns, shadow puppets and site decorations and you can contact the New Carnival Company for further information about these and the unmissable Dark Nights event
