West Wight Arts Association’s concert on October 12th in the Memorial Hall, Freshwater, starting at 7.00, will welcome back the Castalian String Quartet and Matthew Hunt, clarinet.
Formed in 2011, named after the Castalian Spring in Delphi and now enjoying an international career, the quartet was the recipient of the inaugural Merito String Quartet Award & Valentin Erben Prize and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship Award in 2018.
Matthew Hunt is one of Britain’s leading clarinettists, renowned for the vocal quality of his playing and his ability to communicate with audiences. He holds the position of solo clarinettist with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and is a member of the Sheffield based chamber group Ensemble 360.
They will play Schumann’s String Quartet no 2 in F major, Penderecki’s Quartet for Clarinet and String Trio and end with Brahms’ haunting Clarinet Quintet in B minor.
Tickets are available from www.westwightarts.co.uk or Totland Parish Office 756028 and season tickets for all seven remaining concerts can be obtained through the website.
