Marz/Kori artists’ talk 2-3.30pm Fri 26th July at arthouselife: FREE
After attending the RCA (painting), albedo marz was Tutor in Fine Art at Ruskin School of Fine Art, Oxford University for 20 years, and visiting Fine Art Professor at San Francisco Art Institute. He has also worked as an award-winning games and interactive designer alongside his long-term collage, painting and writing projects.
Marz’s ‘Nightmind’ addresses the volatile theatre of everyday life, a world in which historical memory lies in ruins as society sleepwalks towards tearing itself apart.
His ‘Turbulence’ series of paintings are based on the paradoxical play off between the coolness, or contained measure of the graphic style, and the unconstrained improvisation and turbulence of the subject matter.
‘Constellation’ and ‘Whispering’ are the beginnings of two new series of paintings about the psychic spaces of love, desire and anxiety in our hyper sexualized society.
Marz’s collages are central to his wide ranging body of work. They are worked on in series and they tend to remain open for a long time.
The exhibited collages are from a series entitled Reflections, based on memories and recollections rating to his own personal history, and his attempts to pin down the ambiguity of reality.
