Thursday, 11th July to Tuesday, 16th July 2019 10am to 5pm Admission Free
Archaeology, machinery and engineering, architecture and nature are just a few sources of inspiration for Andrew Dowden's handmade, hand-carved sculptural ceramics on show in July at the Quarr Abbey Art Gallery.
A carpenter for 20 years, Andrew was inspired to take up ceramics whilst researching "A Century of Ceramics", the IW pottery book. Mainly self-taught, he enjoys constructing slab-built forms, with surface texture and hand-carving being his primary interest. Andrew's textured wall art painted in oils, will also be on show, complementing his ceramic standing forms and tiled wall panels.
Work is for sale and Quarr Abbey, a registered charity, receives a percentage of all exhibition sales. Andrew will be in attendance throughout the exhibition, so this is an opportunity to purchase direct from the artist. The gallery is open for this exhibition 10am to 5pm, from Thursday 11th to Tuesday, 16th July. Admission is free.
