Save your seeds! Save the date! “SEEDY SUNDAY” on the Isle of Wight

Sunday 10th February 2019 10.30 - 4pm at ASPIRE in Dover Street, Ryde

Come and share in a community seed swap aimed at promoting growing great things in our own locality; listen to experts giving hints and tips; enjoy home-made refreshments in the café; join in a variety of activities linked to growing all types of plants (including some activities especially for children) and browse a variety of stalls.

Bring along seeds you have saved for the seed swap table – envelopes to save your seeds are available from all libraries on the island and can be delivered back there for collection prior to the date or just brought along on the day – and take away some different seeds to grow yourself. Tell your family and friends too.

All welcome.

Timetable for speakers on “Seedy Sunday”:
11:00 Angela Hewitt from Naturezones
11:45 Elizabeth Van Wyk a local bee keeper who sells her delicious honey will be speaking on the subject of the Asian hornet.
12:30 Gareth Edwards from “One Tree” organisation will be speaking about the importance of trees under the title: “Why trees?”
13:15 Ellen Penstone-Smith from Farringford who is known as Tennyson’s Gardener talking about her work and the gardens at Farringford.
14:00 Gerry Price of “the Coastal Gardener” fame in St Helens will talk on the subject “Success with Seeds”, to include demonstrations about selecting and preparing seed for sowing, containers and composts, watering and germination with top tips along the way!
