The Christmas Garden is back for a third year running to light up The Sandown Battery with festive spirit and fun for all the family. This completely free community event will celebrate one of The Bay’s most fascinating monuments and bring life to an often forgotten part of the town.
This year The garden will again host fantastic illuminations, seasonal craft and decoration workshops, tree dressing as well as music performances from Vectis Brass and Medina Community Choir. In addition there will be atmospheric storytelling from Sue Bailey perfect for little ones and historical street performer Greg Chapman will be showcasing his many talents plus don’t forget to toast a marshmallow on the fire or dance in the snow.
The event is a collaboration between The Common Space and Ventnor Exchange that seeks to breathe life into an underused public space whilst giving people a chance to gather together for festivities on a cold dark winters night.
Thompson’s Nursery has kindly donated a spectacular Christmas tree for the event, which will be decorated during the evening and then donated to the YMCA at Winchester House for the Christmas period.
The Christmas Garden will open as the sun sets from approximately 4pm – 7pm. All are welcome and entry is free - wrap up warm!
