In a remote Zambian village, 9-year-old Shula is accused of being a witch and given the choice to accept her role, tethered to a tree, or be turned into a sacrificial goat.

Choosing to attend ‘witch camp’ she becomes a tourist attraction in the control of a corrupt local official, paraded on TV chat shows for his profit.

This acclaimed film is a satirical allegory for societies where women are powerless in the face of ignorance, corruption and misogyny.

Ventnor Film Society meets in Ventnor Arts Club, 13 High Street, Ventnor, which offers comfy chairs and HD projection.

Screenings mostly take place fortnightly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm (look out for exceptions).

Entrance is £6, with under 25s enjoying a discount of £3, payable at the door and the bar is open from 6.30pm.
