Tues 13th Feb/Wed 21st Feb 7.30pm
Artist Paul Gauguin is stifled by his conventional Parisian life and leaves his family behind to set out for Tahiti. He settles in a remote village and devotes himself to working in the primitive artistic style of the island, whose lush landscape is beautifully depicted.
We follow Gauguin's two year stay, where he experiences solitude, poverty and health problems, but also happiness with Tehura, a beautiful young native girl, who becomes his model and 'wife'.
Cert 15. Subtitled. 99 mins.
