The next concert in the West Wight Arts Association season will be given by classical guitarist Sean Shibe on Saturday February 10th in the Memorial Hall, Freshwater, starting at 19.00.
“Genius, a term which should rarely be applied to performing musicians, but at 25 he has it.”
Born in Edinburgh in 1992 of English and Japanese heritage, Sean studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and with the inspirational Paolo Pegoraro in Italy. At the age of 20 he became the first guitarist to be selected for the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme, and the only solo guitarist to be awarded a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. He was selected by Young Classical Artists Trust in 2015.
He will play:
SCOTTISH LUTE MUSIC: from the Balcarres, Rowallan, Straloch and Wemyss manuscripts (c.1695 – 1702)
JS BACH: Lute Suite No.2 in A minor (originally in C minor) BWV 997
VILLA-LOBOS: A selection of Etudes and Preludes
Tickets at £14.00 (£2.00 students and children) are available from www.westwightarts.co.uk or 756028. Advance booking recommended
