On the Pacific island of Vanuatu, Wawa, a girl from the traditional Yakel tribe, falls in love with her chief’s grandson, Dain, but when Wawa is betrothed to a neighbouring tribe in a peace deal, they decide to run away.

They must choose between their hearts and the future of the tribe, while the villagers must wrestle with preserving their traditional culture and adapting it to the modern world.

Dramatic scenes of lush forests, active volcanoes and white beaches.

Ventnor Film Society meets in Ventnor Arts Club, 13 High Street, Ventnor, which offers comfy chairs and HD projection.

Screenings take place fortnightly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm.

Entrance is £6, with under 25s enjoying a discount of £3, payable at the door and the bar is open from 6.30pm.

Parking in Central Car Park or in Grove Rd, free from 6pm.
