The next West Wight Arts Association concert will be given by the Castalian String Quartet and Michael Dussek, piano.
The Quartet is rapidly emerging as an exciting voice on the international chamber music scene.
Formed in 2011, the Castalian Quartet studied with Oliver Wille (Kuss Quartet) at the Hannover University of Music, Drama and Media, graduating with a Master’s. They were selected by Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) in 2016.
Future engagements include return visits to the Wigmore Hall, where they will perform the complete set of Haydn’s Op.76 quartets.
Michael Dussek is no stranger to West Wight Arts having played there eleven times in various guises since 1985. Michael is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, where he is also Head of Piano Accompaniment. He has coached many of the ensembles who play for West Wight Arts including the Ducasse Trio who came in September and October’s star duo Sheku and Isata Kanneh-Mason. The Castalian Quartet will play Haydn’s quartet in E flat Op 76 no 6 and the quartet Ainsi la nuit by Dutilleux. In the second half they will be joined by Michael for Schumann’s sumptuous Piano Quintet in E flat Op. 44
