Open day 25 june 17 poster

Good afternoon all our members, friends and supporters.

Here we go again – It’s nearly time for the first open day of the summer season, which will be held on Sunday 25th June from 1030am until 4pm at the Boathouse in Freshwater Bay. The boats and equipment will be on display for you to look around as usual and chat to the crew - hopefully the new Rescue Water Craft purchased with a grant from the Dept of Transport will be on site too.

Come along and renew your acquaintance with us, have a chat and see what we are up to this year, in continuing to provide a really important service to the local community.

All the usual stalls of course plus a few new ones. Never fear the wonderful cakes and refreshments made by our great team of volunteer bakers will be there, plus books, hand thrown pottery, Homemade crafts and knitted items, Driftwood crafted items, Treasure Hunt, Wiggly Wire, Hook a Duck and Pearls Jewellery.

Also available at this open day will be tickets for the grand Summer Draw. This is running all summer and will be drawn at the 27th August open Day. The star prize is the wonderful “Middleton Island Quilt” made by Faith Middleton and her very talented friend Maria. The beautiful 6ft square quilt which took 5 months to produce, was made in memory of Peter Middleton, our D class coxswain who sadly passed away last year. it will be on display on the day.

This fantastic hand-made quilt is valued at around £700 and it doesn’t stop there – There are many other great prizes including a £200 Brittany Ferries holiday voucher, A spa day at the West Bay club, an Adventure Activities family Activity Day, meals at locals hostelries including a £40 voucher for the Sun Inn at Hulverstone and paintings by a local artist - with more items coming in all the time.

Back to the June 25th Open Day - we also have some great live music being provided free of charge for us by our friends Andy and John, the wonderful “Brass Monkeys”, who will delight you with the sounds of Tijuana brass and others from midday. Thanks Guys 

And it doesn’t stop there -the Island Vintage Motor Cycle Club are going to bring along a selection of wonderful old 2 wheeled machinery for you to drool over (well I will be anyway ) Thank you Ron and friends

So – there we have it -a great day out and a chance for you to look at some wonderful lifesaving seaborne machinery, drool over great motorcycles of the past, eat cake, have a go on some games and maybe buy the chance to win a prize in a fantastic draw.

See you on the 25th June hopefully
