The Centenary Service of Senhora de Fátima will be held at St. Alban's Church, Ventnor at 5:00 pm on Saturday, 13th May.
The service dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Fátima, Portugal in 1917.
The Service will include the blessing of the Statue of Madonna which was brought back from Fátima and donated to St. Alban's Church and after the service the traditional Portuguese Custard tarts will be service known as pastel de nata, all of which has been imported from Portugal by a member of the congregation.
The Celebration tells the story of when Virgin Mary appeared to 3 farm children in 1917 known as: Francisco de Jesus Marto(1908–1919),his sister Jacinta de Jesus Marto(1910–1920)and their cousin Lúcia de Jesus dos Santos(1907–2005)in the then small village of Fátima, located 127 km from the Capital of Lisboa (Lisbon) in Northern Portugal.
