The first West Wight Arts Association concert of 2017 will be given by Savitri Grier, violin, and Richard Uttley, piano, on January 14th at the Memorial Hall, starting at 7.00 pm.
Born in 1992, Savitri Grier read Music at Christ Church, Oxford, graduating with 1st Class Honours, and is currently completing her Artist Diploma at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama studying with David Takeno. In 2015 she was selected for representation by Young Classical Artists Trust.
Born in Bradford, Richard Uttley studied piano with Ian Buckle, then Music at Clare College, Cambridge and at Guildhall School with Martin Roscoe. Richard is on the teaching staff at Guildhall School and City University, and is a trustee of New Dots, a charity supporting emerging composers and performers.
They will play Mozart’s sonata for violin and piano no 27 in G major K 379, Enesco’s violin sonata no 3 op. 25, Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne and Brahms’ violin sonata no 3 in D minor op. 108.
