Danish commander Claus Pedersen and his men are stationed in an Afghan province.

Back home Claus' wife Maria is trying to hold everyday life together.

During a routine mission, the soldiers are caught in heavy crossfire and Claus makes a decision that sees him charged with a war crime.

The action moves between the battlefield and the courtroom in a tense and gripping story of guilt and responsibility.
