It’s going to be a Christmas Special at Acoustic Originals at Quay Arts on Monday, 21 Dec at 8pm.

This highly popular showcase for quality songwriting is certain to create Christmas cheer with its festive theme!

A happy note to end the year on – come along and listen to the eclectic and mad showmanship of Revenge of the Lawn, young local songwriters Zoe Eady and Hannah Jacobs, plus Badman Soul, young folk sensation, Chris Ricketts, local music legend, Mike Jolliffe and several guest artists playing songs from the sublime to the ridiculous!

Zoe Eady, a rock folk singer/ songwriter hailing Brighstone who plays a twelve string guitar and occasional recorder.

Another local songwriter, Hannah Jacobs plays guitar and keys and is sure to wow with her beautiful, emotionally charged voice. Visit her MySpace page

Mike Jolliffe, well-know Island songwriter/vocalist will be sensational with his usual aplomb and verve! Expect bluesy numbers.

Young, Chris Ricketts is travelling from Portsmouth to entertain with his award-nominated folk style of music.

Revenge of the Lawn, the music is as sweet as vinegar, evoked by the clumsy trumpet of Musician, the cheap bass of Baptist, the up-tight and awkward rolling drums of Quaker, through the familiar stringman Ranter and sister Prick-Ear's vocals, delivered at his unsexy, barking, bawdy best. Add to this the tantrum-like sax of Rattle-head with the cruel, harsh piano fumblings of Self-Seeker, and the result is a breath, or more accurately, a sigh of excitingly clichéd air, tainted with the inhibited odour of the most mundane of rock 'n' roll traditions.

Doors open: 7pm Entry is Free, so come along, have a beer or a glass of wine and enjoy this popular evening hosted by Quay Arts Director Mick Smith, a songwriter himself.
