The Pope’s visit to a small Uruguayan town stimulates a flurry of activity among the poorest residents who hope to strike it rich by catering to the needs of 50,000 expected pilgrims.

Convinced that his idea is best, one man uses up his family’s savings to build a paying toilet on his front lawn.

Of course, everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

Though this is a comedy, it is also shrewd and humane about its peasant characters.

The film has all the easy charm of a vintage Ealing comedy whilst also being extremely funny.
