As part of the Violence Against Women & Girls Conference
Date: Sat 19 November to Sat 3 December
Time: 10:00am to 4:00pm
Coinciding with the IW Violence Against Women & Girls Conference 2016, ‘4.15’ is a contemporary craft installation which aims to raise awareness of the stark reality of domestic homicide within the UK. Island designer, Lauren Fry has hand-crafted paper birds, perched atop amassed paperwork – symbolising a freed soul from the torture of domestic violence.
88 women were killed last year in the UK as a result of domestic homicide. That’s 1 woman every 4.15 days. The installation in the Clayden Gallery is formed from tattered pieces of reports and articles which have come to represent the diverse and distinctive lives of the 88 women represented in the exhibition.
Gallery opening times: Mon – Sat 10am – 4pm.
Free entry to all galleries.
