An installation representing the lives of three engineers – mechanical, electrical and data – using changing technology relevant to those generations; from drawing and etching through electronics to a Virtual Reality experience.

Biographical information spanning almost one hundred years, selected to illustrate both the differences and links between a Grandfather, Father and Son. The Son’s data is accessible via a Virtual Reality headset, highlighting how the lives of this latest generation are ‘in the ether’.

(Note that this is an immersive experience not a 360 video, a visitor wearing the Virtual Reality headset is able, if they wish, move around within the Virtual environment.)

Selected comments from previous exhibition:

“Ooh my word. Goodness, have you created this? Wow. Gosh this is amazing. Wow. Takes you into a whole new dimension doesn’t it? I love installation art.”

“Phenomenal installation, the links between the generations, really got it”

“You want to reach out and touch things. Oh wow. It is amazing isn’t it? We have come a long way since the ZX Spectrum haven’t we? This is incredible isn’t it?”

(Gentleman, 92 years old) “I just want to have another look over the edge”

“An amazing immersive experience, wonderful illustration of memory. Great insight into teenage mind”
