Rope Store Gallery | Sat 7 May – Sat 11 Jun | Preview: Fri 6 May 5 - 7pm
A group exhibition celebrating the continuous development of students’ ceramics made with tutor Sue Paraskeva at Quay Arts’ Jubilee Stores.
Sue Paraskeva exhibits her finely thrown porcelain nationally and internationally and was made Resident Potter in 2000-2004; she introduced porcelain to The Pottery and has continued to teach there.
Some students have been coming to regular classes over the last 10 years experimenting with both stoneware and porcelain clays and with gas and electric firings.
The Pottery, Jewellery Studio and General Workshops at Jubilee Stores have developed over the last 11 years, running different teaching workshops with various tutors.
Students throw on the wheel and use various hand building techniques during day classes, evening classes and occasional weekend workshops including Raku Firing workshops and Summer Schools.
This selected exhibition of current students work is an insight into the quality of ceramics being produced, including exquisite modelled miniature horses, thrown porcelain bowls, hand built sculptural vessels, candlesticks and hand decorated tiles.
The variety of work that has been created from clay never ceases to amaze.
