18th November - 23rd November 2010 -10.30am – 4.30pm

Christmas Crafts at Quarr Abbey is an exhibition of ceramics, textiles and paintings.

This unique show runs for one week in November and will be held in the new exhibition gallery space at Quarr Abbey.

Visitors will have an opportunity to buy original and quality handmade gifts in a tranquil setting.

Exhibitors:

Jude Allman is a potter and painter who makes hand-thrown bowls, jugs and functional pots using stoneware clay decorated with simple glazes. She also makes buttons, pendants and one-off ceramics in raku. Her acrylics are landscapes and contemporary still life paintings on canvas.

Gillian Chapman is a feltmaker who creates a range of products using felted fibres and knitted felts that are both functional and beautiful. Designs include soft pots, bags, bowls, brooches and book covers using vivid colour combinations and subtle blends of natural fleece.

Henny Penny Designs is headed by Jackie Sothcott whose products include beautiful bags, doorstops, peg bags, phone pouches and bunting. All of her items are handmade using a range of fabrics which are fresh, colourful and stylish.

Lis Toft is a West Wight artist who specializes in wheel thrown and hand-built porcelain using layered glazes evocative of the beach and sea. Her quirky jewellery is handmade in porcelain and silver with occasional accent pearls.

Sue Wright Handknits is headed by Sue, a hand knitter, weaver and spinner who uses colour and yarn combinations in her designs to produce unique clothing, hats, socks and scarves. She also creates homeware ranges on her loom such as cushions, table runners, throws and rugs.
