Radio Astronomy - Tuning in to the Universe: probing the cosmos with radio waves Dr David Bacon, University of Portsmouth
We are living through an astonishing period of discovery about the Universe. We are gradually learning about new forms of material and energy in the Universe which are invisible, by seeing their effects on things we can see. An exciting new step in this investigation will be performed by the new generation of radio telescopes, larger than ever before and starting their explorations right now. In this talk I will discuss our current picture of the cosmos, and show how radio waves from billions of light years away will take our understanding to a new level in the coming decade.
