Exhibition at Quarr Abbey: Visions & Dimensions - Isle of Wight ceramic artist Andrew Dowden, will be exhibiting at Quarr Abbey Art Gallery, with Wootton-based artist Jeanne Mills-Holland. This will be their sixth exhibition together at Quarr Abbey.

A carpenter for twenty years, ANDREW DOWDEN was inspired to take up ceramics whilst watching a bowl being thrown on a wheel during research for a book on Isle of Wight pottery.

Ideas for his distinctive handmade and hand-carved ceramic forms and wall panels, are derived from the countryside; tracks made by man, machine and nature leaving their imprint on the earth. Architecture, machinery and archaeology also inspire and add further interest to designs.

JEANNE MILLS-HOLLAND began her working life as an Engineering Design Draughtswoman before becoming an art teacher. She now works in oils, acrylics, clay and photography. Her paintings are mainly influenced by her love of sailing and the sea.

Open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, the exhibition runs from Thursday 26, to Tuesday, 31 May, and work is available to purchase. All welcome. Admission free. A percentage of all exhibition sales will go to the Abbey.
