Walk the Wight has evolved over the years and there are now four walks to choose from, there is the original Main Walk of 26.5 miles from Bembridge to the Needles at Alum Bay.

This epic walk is predominantly along walking trails across including the Bembridge and Tennyson Trails and takes in some of the most beautiful sights the Island has to offer.

This walk also takes in some trails and private land that are closed to the public for the rest of the year.

This main walk is also broken down into two stages. There is the 12.5 mile stretch between the start at Bembridge to our checkpoint at Carisbrooke, and the 14 mile stomp from Carisbrooke to the finish at Alum Bay. You can register for any of these three distances by completing the Main Walk form and selecting which one takes your fancy.

There is also the very popular Flat Walk, an approximately 8 miles long walk from Sandown Bay Academy to Thompson’s Trees, Shide, Newport, mainly along flat cycle-tracks which used to be the old railway line.

These are gravelled paths, suitable for robust wheelchairs and baby-buggies, but not mobility scooters. This is an excellent introduction to Walk the Wight for families and other people who may not be comfortable taking on the hills of the main walk.
